The Mark A. Berkley Undergraduate Research Endowment

To further promote undergraduate research, and to honor the contributions of Dr. Mark A. Berkley, a former FSU psychology professor who mentored many undergraduates that went on to become scientists, physicians, and veterinarians, our department has established the Mark A. Berkley Undergraduate Research Endowment. Students now have the opportunity to apply for funding each year. It is expected that the average award will be for $200 to $300, although applications for up to $500 will be considered. Importantly, the deadline for proposals for this year is Friday March 25 at 4:00 PM. The awards will be announced at this year's Undergraduate Research Day, which should be an added incentive for you and your fellow lab members to attend! Detailed instructions for Mark Berkley applications are posted on the Undergraduate page of our website. If you are considering applying for these funds, discuss this with your research supervisor as soon as possible.

Undergraduate Research Day

Undergraduates conducting research that will be completed this semester should submit their projects for our ANNUAL UNDERGRADUATE RESEARCH DAY! It will be held on Friday, April 15, 2011. Undergraduate psychology majors who have completed an honors thesis, or an intensive DIS project, or even a particularly outstanding study for a lab class, can present their research in either a poster and/or talk format. This is a great way to gain experience that can help prepare you for graduate or professional school, or your future job. Additionally, cash prizes will be awarded for the 3 best papers and for the best poster. Even students who do not feel that their projects are competitive should submit their research. Not only will this be an outstanding experience for all who participate, but it also will be a lot of fun and good way to interact with faculty, grad students, and other undergraduate researchers.
